MetPredict presented at the WWTF AI/ML grantee workshop

2026-10-06

The MetPredict team took part in the workshop for grantees of the WWTF "Understanding biology with AI/ML" call, held at the Impact Hub Vienna. The workshop marks the midpoint of the four-year MetPredict project. Juliane Winkler presented MetPredict and our goal of discovering the cellular and microanatomical determinants of breast cancer metastasis across scales, from single cells to whole tissues.

Eva Chrenková, Fatemeh Ahmadi, Yimin Zheng and André Rendeiro also joined the workshop, where the funded teams shared their projects, offers and asks. The panel discussions touched on questions at the heart of MetPredict: how to make sure that models capture biology rather than technical artefacts of the platform or protocol, and how to build models whose predictions we can trust.

These are challenges we face daily when integrating multiplexed imaging, spatial omics and histopathology to predict metastatic potential, and it was great to exchange ideas with other teams working at the interface of AI and biology. Thank you to the WWTF for organizing it!
